Life in 2017, is a life of immediacy.  We live in a fast paced, digital world.  It is not unreasonable for an employer to expect a project back, within a few hours, that used to take a few weeks.  With the introduction of new and powerful computers/tablets and various technologies, we as a society are able to be more productive in a shorter amount of time, than ever before.  Not only are we able to work at an accelerated pace, but we can also enjoy leisure quicker than ever.  With services like Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, and iTunes we can enjoy our favorite movies, shows, and songs at anytime and place.  Shouldn’t we be able to do the same with our beloved family memories?

When the VHS tape was first commercially introduced in the late 1970s, it was a great way for families to record and watch memorable moments over and over again.  Consumers could play tapes, start to end, rewind, and view them again.  That was fantastic for the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, but waiting to rewind just doesn’t cut it in our world today.  In today’s world we are use to clicking a button and instantly you’re at the start of your media again.  By transferring your older media to a digital format, you’re allowing yourself the luxury of watching your favorite memories with that instant rewind feature.  Welcome to the new world, memories.

In most cases, converting video and audio tapes is not difficult process, but it can be a time consuming one.  To transfer your media to digital it has to be converted in real time.  So if you have a two hour VHS tape, it will take two hours to transfer it to a DVD or digital file.  There is no way to transfer video or audio tapes in a faster way, than playing them and recording them at their set speed’s.  Thankfully, transferring your media to digital is the last time your media will have to be played completely, straight through, without being able to stop, copy, pause or rewind, in an instant.  No to mention, once in a digital format, video and audio files are much easier to share, store, and manage.

After deciding to have your memories preserved and transferred to a digital format, be sure to keep in mind that it is a real time process and the more media you have to convert, the longer it will take.  A medium size transfer project, at Masterpiece Multimedia, typically has a 1 to 2 week turn around time, depending on the actual size of the project and the stores workload.  If you want to have a transfer completed before a specific date, it is important to give the store an appropriate amount of lead time to get your memories transferred and returned.  Once you have your digital media, you’ll be able to enjoy it in the same way you enjoy all of the other luxuries of today’s fast paced world.  What a time to be alive.
